For the upcoming apocalypse I've got my priorities right, I spent £50 on a massive sheet of metal, got two gas cylinders refilled and bought a couple of reels of welding wire.

Inner sill and chassis leg finished, next I'll need to order some outer sill panels.

Also changed the shocks on the gold Chevette, I'd noticed it was quite bouncy/floaty the last time I was out in it so went onto ebay and ordered a a pair of Chevette rear shocks and Nova rear shocks for the front (Nova ones fit and are much cheaper).

It was probably the easiest shock change I've ever done, all bottom nuts and bolts are easy to access. Now with the new shocks fitted it drive so much better!

I removed the passenger side wing to see how bad it was underneath.

Not quite as bad as the other side but still quite rusty. I wanted to get another one ticked off the list so started on the chassis leg.

Initially I thought I'd get away with making a small repair section but after chopping the first part out it was clear to see there was a lot more areas needing attention so more chopping unfortunately...

I repaired the chassis leg then made another repair section that is to be sandwiched between the floorpan and the inner arch/A-pillar.

I shut the bonnet and discovered the front end had pulled in slightly so had to cut it off, wedge it out and re-weld it in the correct position.

I'm probably going to have to chop the front end off anyway to make more repair sections.

Since the blue Chevette failed its mot I bought 2 more since, a gold automatic that I've been running around in occasionally and another gold manual I bought for the front panel and to break for spares, I've so a fair few bits that I chopped out and have kept some spares for myself.

Strewth! That's a LOT of rust!

Great stuff! Glad it's not just me that wastes his life welding up old heaps of shite!

Your skill and dedication in bringing back to life old cars that most others would bin amazes me. Keep up the good work sir.
