That just hurts my eyes. Having seen and handled the innards of a Honda autobox, and upon posting pictures, everyone saying 'that just looks like a manual box', those pictures just confuse me. I see why people were wary of autobox rebuilds though now.

Usual stuff like Clutches,seals etc
Thankfully the Torque Converter was good but the pump gears needed replacing,The whole invoice includinding palet delivery was £774 which thesedays is excelent as the trans rebuild on Lexy was £1400
It was starting to slip looks like it had been before because also as there was evidence of stop slip in in the fluid which had started to seperate so looks like I did it just in time
The springs between the sprag rollers are supposed to be 4 across as you can see from the pictures when taken out some had split in half or where on their way now they have all been replaced plus the tailshaft bushing was destroyed hence why the driveshaft had play in it
In in all very please with the price and though I know a Ford Slushboc is never going to be silky smooth the difference should be like Night and Day now

I dont understand it either I know what some bits are but its one of those things best left to an expert
But hey its still cool to have the photos even if non of us have a clue what little critters run around in there when its working away

Small verbal update no photgraphs im afraid
So the Transmission is back in
Manifolds back on
Engine Oil etc but no ATF as theres no driveshaft yet
Driveshaft Hmm
Dirty Word
Elephant in the room
Driveshaft isnt from the car but now has to be made to work
One UJ was replaced but the other once wouldnt fit which is when we realised it was not the original.
Turns out that new UJ from Rock Auto has play built in so both need to be done with decent quality ones
Driveshaft gone to a specialist its a real oldschool outfit with ancient machines but they really know there stuff!
So what should of been £100 for UJ's Supply/Fit/Balance has turned into a £300 job For UJ's Supply/Fit/Balance Lengthen driveshaft tube the yoke that fits both the mongrol driveshaft plus the transmission shaft splines is worn and completely unobtainum to work with both
So they are machining and sleeving it
Their reputation is good and I just want it doing now but I guess with a 44 year old Yank in the UK there is no such thing as remove a part and refit without finding old bodgery
Oh yeh and my neutral safety switch is wrong,you guessed it unique to this car

Yeh True
I always seem to buy the cars that are a good candidate but they have had a bodge or ten
I dont see what I have done i just see the list to do getting shorter as my piggy bank gets lighter

America is land of the bodge, shade tree mechanic work and bondo repairs.
That's the reason a lot of the engineering principles hung around. For one, when America standardizes, it does it full-on, like Junkman says. Not that the designs are simple, but they are generally rugged. Slight engineering changes bring on stuff like you've seen here- bellhousing fits but things are longer/shorter/off-center and it's hacked to make fit. Usually because replacing the vehicle is outside the scope of the owner.

Just catching up on this, I’ve been away for a few days.
At least your found bodges aren’t too serious. When I went to the shippers warehouse to pick my Yank up after it came over I was chatting to them about exactly this sort of thing.
He showed me a small selection of cars that’d come over where someone had bought the car unseen, just based on photos and a description and the word of the US seller.
The first was a Chevy Biscayne (1st Gen), it looked ok, like an older restoration really, nice but a tad ‘lived in’. Underneath however it was a death trap! Everything was just a bastardised mess of worn bits, and bits never designed to be anywhere near that car. The thing was barely even able to move itself in a straight line!
The second was a Chevy ElCamino pickup. Again, it looked ace, lovely bright orange paint. Interior was nice too. Lift up the carpets though and both floorpans were actually made of aluminium roadworks signs, filler and silicone sealant!
The last one I forget what the car was but it was a 60’s Plymouth. This one though had a very serious problem that was easy to spot! The rear quarters were sculpted from masses of filler! Easy to tell, because there was a huge crack running from the middle of one rear wheel arch up the rear quarter and over the rear valance just below the rear screen and down the other rear quarter to its wheel arch! It was truly a sight to behold! It must of weighed an absolute ton in filler.
The new U.K. owners of these cars knew nothing of any of this until the cars landed here and were inspected on arrival. All three were repaired though, it just cost the owners a small fortune in unexpected repair bills first.

I think I was lucky with my seller,yes he told me a few Porky Pies but nothing too bad he sent me loads of photos of everything underneath too
I was talking about this though with my Tame Mechanic he was saying in the states if a house has a driveway,A Shade Tree,Rocks to jack up a car the guy living there thinks he's a Mechanic
Best bit of my Shitey is he is Solid
Worst bit is availability of spares
But once my driveshaft is back and everything bolted up and my dent banged out Im on the home strait I think
Will it be finished then?
See Never Finished in a Dictionary it probably says "Project"
But It will be a tindy survivor looking car at a baseline im comfortable with
