The 1976 Lincoln Green Range Rover has consumed the majority of my time since June.
My original scope has increased somewhat, the customer is delighted with the work done already and we have conversations like... "while it is here, do you think you could just......"
Subsequently I have moved the project into a body restoration phase. the poor old thing is full of filler and papier mache.
One classic example of such bodgery was the LH A-Pillar, it was largely sculpted from filler and large sections of glue and news paper which somehow held together the rusted sections of steel which had been barely pidgeon snotted together. So bad that I opted to chop it out and repair an a-post from a car that I scrapped for parts late spring.

Chopping out rot and butt welding in new steel. No filler except 1mm to smooth the surface

alignment process was tricky but achievable.

once welded and bolted into place and along with extensive footwell and bulkhead repairs the whole lot was 2k primed

followed by a 2k coat of satin Lincoln Green, the customer really likes the patina look but wants the car to be rot free and reliable. You may scoff but I can do that

drivers side a-post, I ground out the filler to reveal a 10mm gap between the upper a-post and the lower a-post sections. There was one welded patch on the leading edge that I pulled away with my hands. I was however able to weld in new steel between the 2 sections and make it solid. I also had to remake the windscreen seal lip before paint.

With bulkhead work done I fitted up a pair of new front inner wings, the items fitted were full of filler and had quite significant accident damage. I refitted the windscreen, a 1980s laminated jobby that had delaminated on all sides. The customer wanted it, alas I cracked the bastard thing. New screen is now on order

Next up and was the nightmare of the main body loom. a few burned wires and lots of fucking scotch connectors but all was repaired and is now back in the car

the passenger door supplied was actually 2 chunks of door frame and the original skin. Plus maybe 5kg of filler and papier mache. I scrapped it and sold the customer one of mine from stock. Honestly it saved him a small fortune.
For the drivers door, I am really light on serviceable 2 door drivers doors. I discussed with the customer and we agreed a fixed price on me rebuilding the door that came off the car.

there was a shed load of fabrication and welding to get it to this point.
