After a week of ownership, I can say that I'm pleased so far.

Is it slow? It's about as fast as a 1970 V8 Range Rover. In fact, it'll happily keep up with motorway traffic. I'd go as far to say that it's not really any slower than my ex plod 3.5 efi manual.

Is it rough and harsh? Not compared to a 200/300 tdi Discovery and it's much quieter and nicer to drive than a VM diesel Classic RR.

But the air suspension is shit isn't it? I'll admit that the tank on mine has been patch welded but the air suspension does suit the car and it rides a lot better than its ancestors.

Aaah! But it's already let you down and immobilised itself already so it can't be trusted! True, but all it took to get it running was by entering the EKA code via the driver's door lock and since then I've only locked it with the key and had no problems.

Isn't battery condition absolutely critical on these to try and stave off electrical maladies?

Yep. And door micro switches.
I also only used key rather than remote after a EKA incident.

Mind you, I used to get 20+ out of a V12 XJ-S but only 33 mpg out of a 1.0 Chevy Matiz so my driving style seems to suit uneconomical vehicles.

It looks like I'm going to have to remove the scuttle to access the vibrating piss flap in the heating system. How hard of a job is that?
