I had a V reg 2.5 sri hatch back in the day. I'm sure it has 170 decals on the front doors.
I could be wandering again though.

You're not even 50 yet are you?

And you imply that I'm a dribbling old twat at times.....

I meant when they were current. It was four or five years old. It was savage on petrol but it did make a lovely noise. I swapped it for an '02 2.0 dti. I had to give him a couple of grand too. That was better for pulling the caravan but was a club and basic as fuck inside. I wrote it off going into the back of a C5 at a roundabout. I thought he'd pulled away so I went too and straight into the back of him.

Yep. And the 2.6. lower down torque improved, and fuel economy.

The GSi one was more in the old 2.5 flavour- MSD iirc.

Those Vectra estates were good looking trams in GSi form.

I don't suppose you remember this buzzing round locally back in the day? It was my mate's in Stourport and had the MSD version in it with 7kg flywheel, F28 etc. We did the conversion on his driveway and I wired it up.

Russ lives off the Hartlebury road, he was a serial Mk2 Astra licker. I used to love driving it up between the buildings on the hill out of Bewdley, it made a lovely rumble.
Sitting on Vale road car park pretending to be a speed camera was fun too lol. Those HID spots really lit things up  Some of the others would proper anchor up!

Still up on ramp, slacking drilling bolt out of centre to replace ready of exhaust.

So did that. 5 drill bits later....

Have a guess who forgot to order the fire ring type gaskets...duh...

Can't save the Irmscher back box though... previous ham-fisted repair.
