What would they drive today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Boss hog would wouldn't struggle in his Caddy CT-5.
I wonder if he'd bother with the bullhorns on the bonnet.
It would have to be a little older I think. Wasn't their charger a mid 60s so would have been around 10 to 15 years old when they found it?
Scary thought though,10 to 15 year old cats in the scrapper were commonplace due to rust 30 to 40 years ago at least in the uk. Now cars that age are in the scrapper for ecu faults.

They had to build in incept dates like bladerunner. You wouldn't need to buy a new car otherwise.
Unless you were extremely shallow that is.

The thought of Colombo in a fucked 308CC or Steed in an X-Pace or Bentdago is as unpalatable as watching Frank Cannon clamber aboard a Navigator.
Steeds Bentley was 30 years old, the Jag a bit modded, as for Emma Peel and Tara Kings wheels…

I think it’d be ok.

As for big Frank ( actually not that big by today’s standards) as long as a Navigator rocks back and forth when you slam it into park , it’s almost there.

Yeah that all seems quite acceptably reasoned! I suppose the Navigator demographic is indeed Cannon-calibred....

Del and Rodney?

One of those DFSK vans with the “BMW” grille.

Bergerac?

Honda del sol.

Knight Rider would obviously be a Tesla. With turbo-boost of course.

bub2006 wrote: Wed Apr 13, 2022 1:20 pm Completely random I know but I regularly think what would folk from older TV series drive if set today. Jerry and Margo from a good life would probably have a volvo v70 or xc90,Richard and hyacinth would probably be driving around in a honda jazz while onslow would likely have a ropey mk3 mondeo. The likely lads red chevette would probably be a dacia logan or sandero.

In the early 80’s old Capris were seen as dodgy, likely untaxed and uninsured , throwaway drug running type cars- black e46 Coupe with black windows, for Terry . A Lexus LS430 for Arthur.
Agree on the E46, probably a low powered one too.

A lot of what characters would drive today is down today to product placement as it was back then.

Although back in the 70s The Sweeney did use Granadas it's worth noting that the real life Flying Squad also used SD1's Fiat 131s, Cortinas, Carltons and Audis.

The reality crumbles when someone in a Police show uses their own car in the line of duty.
