Re: Out of Jap Tat : a spectral fleet thread
I’m going against the grain here, but the mk1 and 2 Granada were excellent cars, in their day. Even now they’re brilliant cars. I loved mine and I’d have another in an instant.
My biggest gripes with them is that, like most Fords of the time they rust like fuck! It’s not necessarily easily fixed either. The spares situation is not like other Fords of the time either - even mechanical bits are becoming difficult to find now. I think the reason for this is because they aren’t in the same ‘scene’ as the Escort and other smaller Fords and the demand to remanufacture parts just isn’t there. Obviously in the good old days there were loads around that you could pillage for bits but that’s just not the case now.
The biggest thing though that puts me off them is the attention they attract from vile mouth breathing scum that’ll gladly relieve you of it if you’re stupid enough to park it and leave it unattended for any length of time. I had no end of such twats knocking on my door about mine!
I’m not trying to put you off owning one, if you like them and want one then don’t listen to other people’s warped opinions of things and go for it. They are lovely cars and a well sorted one is a good drive too, but it all depends on what you want from a car. They are not the sort of car I’d risk using regularly these days if I’m honest, and if you daren’t leave it parked anywhere then it’s not really much use as a car!
I would also recommend you to not listen too much to other people! What X likes WILL differ from what you like so if I were you Max I’d have an idea what type of car you like and run with that. If a big yank does it for go get one and fuck everyone else’s opinions. If you want an old Granada so you can drive around pretending to be Jack Regan before some cunt niks it off you then go for it. I’d even (admittedly hesitantly!) say if you fancy trying something really awful like a 2cv, then do it!

What puts me off a well sorted Granada is what else I can get for the money.

I agree with all of that.Danthecapriman wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 2:19 pm I’m going against the grain here, but the mk1 and 2 Granada were excellent cars, in their day. Even now they’re brilliant cars. I loved mine and I’d have another in an instant.

Re: Out of Jap Tat : a spectral fleet thread
I've lost the plot with what Ghostys requirements are apart from wanting an auto. If 2 seats are ok what about a slk like xtrple?

Well, for that sort of money the door is wide open, don't you think?

No not really. If he wants a Granada then it’s pointless trying to sell him a Mini!

There’s a hearse version 4 sale over on the other place... from the sound of it heading oval-wards if it doesn’t sell!
£2k and you get a cossy m8. And it sort of ticks your estate box!
