I'm not paying rent yet. 'Real' jobs etc come first. XJ works in my head and I want to get one before I'm priced out of them etc. Bucket list car - one of few that are still extant in numbers and just about attainable. It's not as if I'm going to be using it as a daily... (I commute by rail and if I change jobs, Brompton).

Of course, I've seen a very nice 4.0 amongst all the knackered 3.2s on eBay, auction ends on Sat.

If I don't get it I might reconsider. It's hard to find cars that suit me though, at least I seem to be struggling.

Whatever I get will be my long term classic/second car. It was to be the Civic, but things change.

There's more to life than four cylinder Hondas and green Volvos (which is everything I've owned barring the 305). After two and a half years, I'm rather sick of Honda dynamics. They're just starting to feel clinical.

He doesn't need it to keep going effectively... he cycles.

I see the overarching principle, but any of the diesel trio mentioned isn't the answer. The answer is ALWAYS Honda Jazz. :)
