Here's the thing, I am a bit fucked, and have been for a few years already. Lower back for one, hereditary. I'm particular with my cars, and my bikes are always built a very certain way, comfort is a high priority.
Manual Granada Ghias aren't often heard of either, for some* reason.

Update: the Granada is in Granadaland.

This just got a lot easier.

Max, I had lower back problems from when I worked as a motorcycle courier. The best cure is to stretch out your spine by e.g. hanging from a door frame. Or even better, rock climbing (either outdoors or at a climbing wall) because that masssively strengthens your back muscles & helps to separate the vertebrae in your spine. I've not had pain in my back for years now.

But even with the lower back pain, I don't see how that means you can't use a clutch. Even when my back was at its worst I was never unable to drive a manual car.

Anyway: your choice. I suspect we'll continue to mock you slightly for your auto preference though ;-)

I've had back problems for nigh on twenty odd years. Had my lower spine fused last year, use a walking stick, live off tramadol, I still love a manual box.

I've got a dodgy spine, *looks at recent car history*

Errm yeah, I'd still get a manual in anything sporty though.

Asked to view car. Seller sounds alright, spoke well of the car, and he told me what he bought it for so I know what ballpark I'm in, and it's the right one. He's also aware of the Morecambe eBay Granada, so its price could be a useful talking point if it goes low.

Alas the guy couldn't commit to a time as he has visitors at the moment and is keeping himself available for them, so I'm waiting for a call.

I've a knackered back and left leg. I do prefer automatics but can and do drive manuals. Wife's avensis and the trike are manuals and most of my cars have been. I find the exercise does help on occasion in all honesty but at the end of the day it's your choice and what makes you comfortable.
