Within 24 hours of putting it up for sale, the MX-5 is sold. A fella text me at 5pm, is it available?

After some discussion, he says he can be there in an hour - he only bloody is.

Turns out he knows them well as he used to import them and has a few other classics, including a mk1 Granada coupe. He wanted it for a manual conversion (surprise). He was impressed at how rot free it was, and how knowledgeable I was on it. £800 cash in hand was agreed on, and it's gone, no nonsense at all. Couldn't have asked for better.

I've made an offer on something I really like the look of.

Derisory offer declined; seller said how much he was hoping for.

There's three days left on the auction, it's at just over a quarter of what he wants and there's no reserve.

Fine, looks like I'm bidding.

Well, there is that. Not as big as some losses I've made though.

This has been taken off eBay:

My assumption is an agreement had been reached outside of eBay.
The question is who struck a deal here.

Wasn't me, didn't like the condition of it.

Eyes are on this early facelift injection, it's local (Bury) so I'm hoping to view, and possibly make an offer. I text the seller earlier but I'll give them a call tomorrow. Bonus - it's close to tax exemption.

Insurance is £megacheap at £320 so they're a real prospect.

I've just clocked Anglia Car Auctions in the background of one of the pictures of that Granada, and verified it on Google Maps.

For fuck's sake. That's about 40 miles from the wrong Bury - Bury St. Edmunds. Might also explain why the seller hasn't replied to me.

Max. You're a youngster... buy something with a manual box & enjoy the fuck out of it. Leave the Heather Mills stuff until you're old and/or fucked, eh?
