Oi!
Some of us, well at least one, are over 60.
I've only ever had 2 autos, both as short term company cars, a BMW525E and a Sierra 2.3 Ghia.
Both my present cars are manual and I don't see an auto in my future unless I'm forced to have one.
I would go all 'DollyWobbler' on you but the mods here don't give a shit as to what people say.

Auto boxes only suit big wafty things, not motorised skateboards.

You are never too young to avoid that antediluvian manual anachronism like the clap.
DIY boxes are only acceptable in column change flavour.

About the only thing good about Honda motors is the ability to hold them in gear at silly rpms to get the car to actually move and heel-toe down the box.

I was talking about the condition. Generally I find Japanese cars irritating.
Apart from that you only had those Ovlovs and Rovers, IIRC? So when are you finally going to buy something proper?
Can you get classic insurance now?

No offence meant chadders, old bean :D

I think autos are bloody awful, why would any car aficionado relinquish one of the most pleasurable aspects of driving and leave the gearchanging to a bloody machine? Autos are only appropriate for massive wafty things, commuters & people with fucked legs IMO. Other than that they can get in the sea.

Other opinions are available, obviously. They're wrong though. lol.

So go on then, I R confused again. I've read the words and looked at the pictures. I've marvelled and nearly puked at the hideous steering wheel and I know it's got a shit gearbox but why you changing the engine again?

Whatever the answer you must know you're doing it all wrong don't you? I mean come on, you should be tearing the whole thing out and welding in have a shitty diesel Golf, then you'll be a true winner! :-)
These are some words.

The steering wheel is great! RE: Manual transmissions? Fuck that winnners only have two pedals, the third is only for parking brakes.

As I've mentioned before I only drive autos out of choice, but it's so I can be a better driver and get more enjoyment out of the one thing I've always wanted to do since I was a kid. I don't have the best coordination at times, and I have rather overactive legs, so while manual cars are possibilites for me, auto makes things a lot easier for me. Besides, mated to a 1.6 these Honda 'boxes are actually excellent gearboxes when in good fettle.
Anyway, the engine is out.

And the gearbox split off..

The rebuild kit has arrived and wasn't cheap. Old Man's had a look at the gearbox and suddenly doesn't want to touch it though, which is fucking annoying as the 'box runs like arse, he's been telling me to get the rebuild kit for ages, and it cost £160. I'm not putting it back in in the state it is with 35 more horsepower, it'lll blow up.

Anyone have any experience of autoboxes?
