So as you know I have a carburetted Civic. It's reliable*.

I plan to increase* the reliability.

Step one: how the fuck do I get this VTEC engine out of the back of the Volvo? I have a brand new Sealey 2.25 ton jack, and no engine crane.

There's no lip on the Volvo boot, so just walk the engine down a ramp. I've done this with a 2.25 diesel Land Rover engine that weighs 250kg.

Put a wheel barrow at the boot of the ovlov & slide the engine in.

Or cut a hole in the floor & make a twin engined ovlov.

Make steps out of spare tyres and wiggle it across and down slowly..I've done this many times on my own

Twin engine Volvo's been done, someone on Retro Rides did it iirc, looked bonkers.

We have skateboards and possibly an extra pair of hands, it's starting to look easy. Stripped all the useless stuff off it like a/c compressor, manifolds etc. That'll make a difference.

A new Momo steering wheel turned up in the post today too, I thought it was polycarb but it's coated wood! A score for 20 quid, and after a few minutes with some Autosol the stainless centre came up like new. Just waiting for the mother to get home (as ever shes taken the bloody thing out) so I can fit it. I'll use the horn push from the old one for now but I'll need a replacement in time as the plastic's not aged well.

The front splitter is off a mk3 Golf GTI/VR6. £23 new on eBay, and a very easy fit as it's almost the ideal shape, once you cut the tabs off that hold it in place on the Golf, and bolt it on instead. It's possible to use a lot of existing holes in the splitter and bumper too which is nice.



New bargain wheel is now in. Looks nice, and makes the car feel nicer to steer, not sure how it'll be on longer journeys as it's not padded and has a glossy finish. Can't argue for the price though and a bit nicer than the scabby MX-5 wheel was.

In other news the Volvo has some new centre caps and a bit of a rust repair on the wing.





Tomorrow is a day for organising the garage and lifting the engine out of the back of the Volvo.

Just managed to score a rear lip too.

Jeezers fucked does that steering wheel look shit.

I'd just run the ovlov, trail braking into bends can get them sideways with practice. ...
