Re: Best ever real world car?
Not the best handling things but so reliable. Sold loads of them. Bought cheap from auctions, given good valets, bit of wob on the back arches usually and maybe knock 100k of the Speedo and they would see a tidy profit. Never much wrong with them, they wore their miles well. Had a few that were well over 200k but didn't look it.
Don't want to actually own one now though...

Hopefully Greta Thunberg & Co aren't reading this....
Toyota Hilux Surf SSRX 3.0TD auto (Jap import with no Cat convertor).
Bloody lovely. Cavernous interior. Made my twice-yearly jaunt down through France and Andorra into Spain and via Barcelona and Madrid to the Costa del Curry'n'Chips an absolute breeze. A bit thirsty so a Jerry can of diesel was essential touring kit!

Re: Best ever real world car?
Given the number of cars owned by people on here that won't even do 25mpg you'd probably be classed as one the good ones.
I've got 2 for a start, a MGB and a VW T2.

Re: Best ever real world car?
Possibly the only one of my cars that'll beat 25 mpg is the Calibra, and I'm sure I could get that down to 20 mpg or less with a sufficiently-leaden right foot.
On the road:
1998 Disco 4.0 V8 (manual)
1994 Vauxhall Calibra 3.0 V6
Running but need fettling:
1986 Honda CBX750F
1991 Maserati 222 SE
1990 Yamaha XJ900F
Tax & MOT-exempt, woohoo!
1982 Suzuki GSX1100SZ Katana

The Civic is being replaced with an Audi soon. Not sure what yet - either an Avant or a Convertible, preferably a V6 petrol manual. We shall see.

25mpg? The book says mine will do that, experience says only downhill!

Re: Best ever real world car?
You ain't far off. The book says 27.9mpg at 70mph. It does 23.4 at that speed.
Odd as both other Jags I've had did exactly what the book said MPG wise.
