JIZZ UPDATE - T'OTHER SIDE
After getting sidetracked doing washing up and other such shite (like very variable weather), I ventured outside at 5.30pm to do the NSF drop link.
The bottom nut was straightforward enough to remove, but the top one was a wee bit of a bastard. There's the obstacle of about 15mm of thread to run past. Anyway, got most of the way there, but the Allen key was starting to twist. It was rock solid in the hole, but the hexagon profile of the key was yielding.
Went inside for the Mole grips as I had enough room now to hold the back of it in the gap and then just rattled gunned it off (after a few thwarted attempts to get the grippage of the Moles set just right). Also, despite having to drag Honda Jr 1 away from a screen for a bit to do something other than sit on his hole, it didn't slow me down too much.
From going out the back door to having everything done and put away clocked in at 1h 5m.
I'd have done some more, but had to get some shopping for tea. That trip was the test run and now I have no more knocking... which is nice.

R1100RT UPDATE
Still haven't started prodding this starter motor/ ring gear teeth issue. I think it's the ring gear which means splitting it. Still no centre stand on it at the moment, yesterday started messing around.
Drag round Euro pallet from behind shed. Flip it over and then find out there isn't enough room between the wotsits for the original cunning plan.
Removed the middle wotsit...
...and things are looking better after a couple of planks have been removed.
Spent the next ages trying to find the bolts I bought last week. Hours later I find they have fallen behind the kitchen bin. So off to the shed to cut them down a touch from 50mm
Then later last night opened out the 8mm holes I drilled in the afternoon to 10mm and bolted the Ace Bikes Steadystand to the remains of the pallet.
It's a bit windy out, but dry. I probably regret the parking position after I've immobilised the bastard.

Talking of the mighty Honda Jazz what is the steering like on yours ? The one I have just bought doesn't seem right as it doesn't self center and you have to physically correct it to keep it straight. I did pop the track rod ends off to check the struts move freely and can see why the smacking them with a hammer to break the taper could be more challenging than normal. However a few good smacks and they came apart ok. I have to slap a clutch in it next after a couple of new calipers this week. Bloody thing owes me over £800 now, still it's a Honda so should sell ok when the time comes. I will sling a secondhand steering rack in when I do the clutch as well. As long as the subframe comes undone ok it should make both jobs a lot easier.
