Finished work 03:15. Got my shit together to leave around 03:45. Shit noise coming from starter but no starting action. That'll be the starter deciding to shit a magnet (Valeo shit - TADTS). Bollocks.

After some rather lame attempts at trying to bump start the two jug bastard (it's a young man's game) I wait until the day shunter rocks up at 05:00. Grab the longest strap from locker on bay 16 and go for a tow behind the Turdberg... After about 200m eventually the bastard decides to actually fire and we're in business! Say thank to my oppo and fuck off home. Fucking cold out.

Got home 05:55 but the fucking bin man has already been round. Cunt.

I've never bumped a big bike from cold. I'm sure if I tried I'd run along side, jump on side saddle as I dropped the clutch and go straight over on the other side smashing it up.

The one time I did bump one was the Bonnie when I stopped for petrol on the way back from Scotland and found half the kick start had fallen off... Being warm it'd catch from a fast waddle straddled over the bike and dropping on the saddle as the clutch was released.

My limit was my 4 pot GT550. It had at one point a slipping starter clutch that would work fine the rest of the day, but forget about it engaging when trying on the first fire of the day. Eventually it got to the point where more that just a morning bump was required, so then you had to split the cases.

Very big bikes with not enough cylinders like a fucking long hill, but as the topology of the workplace denies me that pleasure it was tow start the fucker.

Doesn't help it was around freezing point too at that time of the morning/night.

Try bump starting a Moto Guzzi Le Mans11. Two big high compression cylinders and clip ons. Recipe for disaster. I did manage it, only once. New battery straight away.
I bumped my fully loaded with camping gear Harley Road King once but I had a lot (A LOT) of pushers while I was sat in the saddle.

Yeah, I bought a cheapo Chinese motor back in October 2016 for the other one and ended up rebuilding the gearset on the one on the bike as that one had stripped the teeth and it was only 10 months old. Still works too.
