The bloke next door to me uses that sort of wheel balancer, seems to work well. You have reminded me though, i must get some new valves for the next tyres as he never has any to use at the time.
I don't see why valves don't last a lot longer than a tyre but I guess better safe than sorry.

Yesterday was ruined near the start and I'm still fucking raging. Mrs H went off in the morning to a funeral and came back with a broken Jizz. Hit whilst parked by what appeared to be a van. The spunk trumpet of a driver had buggered off too.

Aside from all that crap. It gave me more unplanned shit to do, on a car that needs a fresh NCT (MOT) before the end of the month. Unlike MOTs though, NCTs are a pain in the hole to get an appointment for. Currently the earliest is 25 July at my nearest one. Rather than book that, my tactic is to keep viewing the page and keeping an eye open for cancellations that appear. This can reduce the wait to a couple of days, but I have to be ready to jump.

I live ten minutes from a breakers. Said breakers though see no value in weekend customers as they clear off at 1pm on a Sat and aren't open on a Sun. Time to plunder the "quality used spares" car then, except the boot is locked and there is no keylock on the tailgate because central locking (and there are no electrics connected). Despite the car being full of shite (but with the seats down at least), I managed to wiggle in through a back door and remove the lock bung. After some finger prodding, I gave up and had a look at the other car to see that I still have to flick a flap open to be able to access a lever to disengage the lock. Bingo, tailgate opens.

Rear light units are simple to remove on the Jazz, just remove the trim covers, unplug all the bulbs, undo three the M6 nuts and, and, and...forget about removing them as the bastards decided to put an extra screw into the bottom of the unit through the bolt-on outside bumper clips. Yup, the cunts make you take off the entire bumper to do that job FFS.

Kept up with my continual checking of the NCTS website and on Monday evening bagged a slot at the local test centre for today at 1350.

Due to late finishes at work all week (c.4am), I was intending to change the NSR tyre and fit the new exhaust system this morning. However due to school runs at 9.00 and 12.00, I had to fit it inside that window. Needless to say I got the tyre done and then couldn't be arsed to do the exhaust (it wasn't leaking as far as I could see but a hole was starting on the top of the rear silencer). So it went in as it was, family in tow. (Talking of which, they check the function of 7 and 13 pin sockets here for brake, indicator & rear position light function)

The Jizz yet again providing zero thrills in the annual testing stakes.

Today is something unprecedented. Jaaag has been taken to a garage to be fixed. I never take my cars to the garage to be fixed because reasons. We'll see how that turns out later...

I used to pass Naas on my way down south to visit the relatives. That was when it was just the N7 though, no motorways... I bet it's all changed nowadays.

Yup, they've just finished widening the 2 lane M7 motorway from north Naas N7 to the M9 to 3 lanes!

It's even all motorway to Galway and Cork now.



It's great as you can amble down the old roads in relative peace.

Because Jaaag, the car is still in bits awaiting parts...should be completed Tuesday...

At least it's not a '94 Jeep...

Especially a 1994 Jeep that's been put in for repairs at what appears to be the Bermuda Triangle...
